What is social and community participation?
Social and community participation is located under Core Supports and Capacity building under the NDIS. It is a support to “take part in skills-based learning to develop independence in accessing the community” under page 81 of the NDIS Price Guide 2020-2021.
Increased social and community participation includes the following categories
- Assistance in Coordinating or Managing Life Stages, Transitions and Supports
- Development of Daily Living and Life Skills
- Innovative Community Participation
- Community Participation Activities
What is the goal of social and community participation?
Basically the goal of social and community participation is to develop the skills necessary to socialise and be involved in the community. It can be a broad range from shopping to social activities.
What activities does social and community participation include?
There are a BROAD range of activities such as shopping, paying bills, social activities under Assistance in Coordinating or Managing Life Stages, Transitions and Supports.
What should I use under Increased Social and Community Participation?
This is completely up to you as the NDIS participant. Whatever best suits your needs is the recommendation.
